- Track events are contested on a running track. They include the Sprints, Middle Distance Running, Long Distance Running, Steeplechase, Hurdles, and Relays.
- - Sprints: 100 Metres, 200 Metres, 400 Metres
- - Middle Distance Running: 800 Metres, 1500 Metres
- - Long Distance Running: 5000 Metres, 10,000 Metres
- - Steeplechase (SC): 3000 Metres Steeplechase
- - Hurdles (H): 110 Metres Hurdles (Men), 100 Metres Hurdles (Women), 400 Metres Hurdles
- - Relays (R): 4 x 100 Metres Relay, 4 x 400 Metres Relay

- Field events are contested in a stadium but not on the track. Field events include jumps and throws.
- - Jumps: High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump
- - Throws: Shot Put, Discus Throw, Hammer Throw, Javelin Throw

- Road races are contested largely or entirely on the road. They include the Race Walk and the Marathon.
- - Race Walk: 20 Kilometres Race Walk, 50 Kilometres Race Walk
- - Marathon

- Combined events comprise several Track and Field Events, in which an athete may score points for his/her
- performances.
- - Decathlon (Men)
- - Heptathlon (Women)
